Garu JP
Reheating soup for two
Across the table, a chair still empty
Turning over the screen stopped at "almost there"
My eyes go back to the road outside
For one who does not come, at Matsuho Bay
In the evening calm, seaweed salt burns
The soup I left on the fire, forgotten
The smell of burning brings me back
And my heart keeps burning, burning
The sky outside turns indigo
Like the evening calm, the notifications go still
Gently wrapping the plate gone cold
I still don't clear the seat across from me
For one who does not come, at Matsuho Bay
In the evening calm, seaweed salt burns
I'm still inventing excuses for you
Simmering down together with my kindness
And my heart keeps burning, burning
The man who gathered a hundred poems
Chose for his own single verse
Not some dazzling song of love
But a night song of simply waiting
For one who does not come, at Matsuho Bay, in the evening calm
Seaweed salt burns — and so does my heart
For one who does not come, at Matsuho Bay
In the evening calm, seaweed salt burns
Reflected in the darkening screen
The light strokes my own face
And my heart keeps burning, burning
A car passes on the road outside
I rise from the chair, and sit back down
I'll leave the entrance light on
Tonight, still, my heart keeps burning
