The Story

歌のものがたり
Koshikibu no Naishi was the daughter of the famous poet Izumi Shikibu, and the court whispered that her mother wrote her poems for her. When a courtier mocked her — 'Has your messenger returned from your mother in Tango yet?' — she caught his sleeve and improvised this reply on the spot, its wordplay folding 'setting foot' and 'letter' into a single phrase. The taunt died instantly. It remains history's most elegant proof that talent owes nothing to borrowed pens.

Lyrics

歌詞
Japanese

大江山(小式部内侍・百人一首60番)/Garu JP

Verse 1

「どうせ誰かの 入れ知恵でしょう」

「親の名前の 威光でしょう」

ヒソヒソ声の 品評会場

おあいにくさま 余裕の表情

凡人の物差しなんて 没収

見せてあげるわ 有言実行

紙とペンなら とっくに卒業

言葉は喉から 直接発光

Pre-Chorus 1

言いたいやつには 言わせとけばいい

黙らせたけりゃ 実力見せりゃいい

Chorus 1

大江山 いく野の道 遠くたって

私は私の 言葉で行くわ

借り物なんて ひとつもないわ

この足で この口で 切り拓くわ

まだふみもみず でも踏み込む未知

踏んだ数だけ 増えてゆく道

見てなさい ここからが私

Post-Hook

(おおえやま!) 王手だわ

(まだふみもみず!) ためらいも見せず

踏み鳴らせビート 行くのみだ

千年響く マイクドロップ

Verse 2

はるか昔の 歌合の会場

少女を囲む 大人の嘲笑

「お母様の代作 バレバレでしょう」

絡んだ男は ドヤ顔の表情

返した一首 深く刺さった

三十一文字で 時が止まった

「文」も見ないで 「踏み」もせず勝った

掛けたふたつの意味で 完封しちゃった

Pre-Chorus 2

返す歌さえ 出てこないまま

逃げたのはどっち? 語り草のまま

Chorus 2

大江山 いく野の道 遠くたって

あの子は自分の 言葉で立った

即興一発 逆転劇

千年語られる 伝説的

まだふみもみず でも韻なら踏むわ

生まれた時から 語呂なら強いわ

歴史に残る カウンターパンチ

Post-Hook

(おおえやま!) 王手だわ

(まだふみもみず!) ためらいも見せず

踏み鳴らせビート 行くのみだ

千年響く マイクドロップ

Rap Bridge

なめられた時こそ 腕の見せどころ

なめてたあんたが 今じゃ笑いどころ

天才の娘は 天才を超えてく

磨いた分だけ 言葉は冴えてく

橋という字は 端と端を繋ぐ

千年前のあの子と 今の私を繋ぐ

文も 踏みも 韻も 全部踏んでみせる

大江山より高い壁も 越えてみせる

Breakdown

大江山 いく野の道の 遠ければ

まだふみもみず 天の橋立

Last Chorus

大江山 越えた先まで 響かせるの

疑われた分だけ 強くなれるの

証明なんて 一首で十分

弁明なんて 一生無用

まだふみもみず でも踏み込む未知

私の道は 私が決める

まだふみもみず でも韻なら踏むわ

千年先も 私は私

Outro

(おおえやま!) (まだふみもみず!)

おおえやま…… まだふみもみず……

English

Ooeyama (Koshikibu no Naishi, Hyakunin Isshu No. 60) / Garu JP

"Someone must be feeding you the words"

"It's all your parent's fame, isn't it"

Whispers fill the judging hall

Too bad for you — look at my easy smile

Your ordinary yardsticks? Confiscated

Watch me now — I walk the talk

Paper and pen? Graduated long ago

Words shoot straight from my throat like light

Let them talk all they want

Want them silent? Just show them skill

Mount Oe and the roads of Ikuno may be far

But I go my way with my own words

Not a single borrowed thing on me

These feet, this mouth will carve the path

Haven't set foot there — still I step into the unknown

Every step I take becomes my road

Watch me — this is where I begin

(Mount Oe!) Checkmate

(Fumi mo mizu!) Never hesitating

Stomp the beat — just keep going

A mic drop echoing a thousand years

Long ago, in a poetry-match hall

Adults sneering around one young girl

"Your mother wrote it for you, obviously"

The smug man wore a triumphant face

Her instant reply cut deep

Thirty-one syllables stopped time

No letter seen, no step taken — she won

Two meanings in one word — a perfect shutout

He couldn't even return a verse

Who ran away? The tale still tells

Mount Oe and the roads of Ikuno may be far

That girl stood tall on her own words

One improvised verse — a total reversal

A legend told for a thousand years

Haven't set foot there — but rhymes? I tread them

Born with a gift for wordplay

A counterpunch that made history

(Mount Oe!) Checkmate

(Fumi mo mizu!) Never hesitating

Stomp the beat — just keep going

A mic drop echoing a thousand years

When they mock you — that's your moment to shine

The ones who mocked are now the punchline

The genius's daughter outgrows the genius

The more I polish, the sharper my words

The word "bridge" joins one edge to another

It joins that girl to me, a thousand years apart

Letters, footsteps, rhymes — I'll tread them all

I'll clear walls higher than Mount Oe

Mount Oe and the roads of Ikuno are far away

I've not yet stepped there, nor seen the Bridge of Heaven

Beyond Mount Oe, I'll make it resound

Every doubt they cast just makes me stronger

One verse is proof enough

Excuses? Never needed in this life

Haven't set foot there — still I step into the unknown

My road is mine to decide

Haven't set foot there — but I'll rhyme my way

A thousand years on, I am still me

Mount Oe... fumi mo mizu...

Mount Oe... fumi mo mizu...
